The President is putting somebody else on blast, and this time, it is the FBI. Apparently, he is upset that the government agency has completely failed to locate the individuals who are leaking information to journalists.
Trump claims that the information the press is receiving is classified and that the leakage could have devastating results for the United States. He is demanding that the supposed leakers be found as soon as possible.
“The FBI is totally unable to stop the national security “leakers” that have permeated our government for a long time. They can’t even find the leakers within the FBI itself. Classified information is being given to media that could have a devastating effect on U.S. FIND NOW” Trump tweeted early Friday.
This blast from Trump came after news outlet CNN released a story on Thursday that the FBI has rejected the White House’s request to publicly dismiss any and all reports that those associated with Trump was in contact with the Russians, which was something the United States intelligence was already aware of during the campaign trail last year.
Trump made a statement at a White House meeting on last week in regards to leakage. Mr. Trump said at a White House meeting that leakers will “pay a big price” for leaking damaging information. This came after Gen. Michael Flynn made the decision to resign from his role as national security adviser. He resigned following misleading Vice President Mike Pence and other high-level officials concerning his conversations with the Russian ambassador right before the inauguration.
Trump said, “We’re gonna find the leakers. They’re gonna pay a big price for leaking.”
