It has been almost two months since Mariah Carey has blessed the any stage to perform. The last time she performed was in Times Square, when she embarrassed herself while on set for the annual Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve program.
America was on a high, as they eagerly awaited the arrival of 2017. Carey during her performance stumbled her way through her hits “Emotions” and “We Belong Together”, claiming that she was unable to hear the background track. It would be her camp that would later come out to state that there were technical issues with her ear monitors and that Dick Clark Productions wouldn’t pay no mind to their request to have the issues fixed before she went on stage. Dick Clark Productions have denied those allegations. She face scrutiny following the how.
Carey would soon take a break from social media, but not before posting, “It’s not practical for a singer to sing live and be able to hear themselves properly in the middle of Times Square with all the noise, the freezing cold, the smoke from the smoke machines, thousands of people celebrating—specially when their ear monitors were not working at all,” she said. “Listen, guys—they failed me. Thus, it turned into an opportunity to humiliate me and all those who were excited to ring in the New Year with me. I’m going to take a break from media moments, social media moments. Although I am going to fulfill my professional obligations, this is an important time for me to finally take a moment for myself and to be with my loved ones and prepare for my upcoming tour in March.”
However, the wait is over, Mariah Carey has returned and decided to take another shot on live television.
While wearing a red gown on Wednesday Night, the singer/reality star performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! stage, joined by a band and three backup singers as she performed her latest single, “I Don’t” featuring rapper YG.
The live on-air performance happened without a glitch, hushing the naysayers from last year’s New Year’s Eve debacle.
