Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are providing clarity on their sex life.
Ripa, the daytime talk show host, raised some eyebrows when she commented on how her husband of 20 years tends to be “immediately mean” following their “grown-up time” about a week ago. Ripa is now changing her story.
On Wednesday, she went live on her show, with husband Consuelos by her side, to clear it all up by commenting, “I’m sorry! I was joking. This is a funny, irreverent show. I didn’t realize that it would become trending news.”
And trending news it was, as Consuelos came to the realization that something didn’t go as planned, while he co-hosted the show with his wife.
Consuelos commented on his reaction, “I laughed. I didn’t refute it because I thought it was the most ridiculous thing I ever heard.”
Following his appearance on the show, the actor was in Dallas for a new project, when he started receiving texts from his friends inquiring if Ripa’s comments were indeed true. It was afterward that he started to notice the trending news regarding their “grown-up time”.
So of course, the manly thing to do would be to go on the show the following week to clear up the comment with his wife, “I just wanted to set the record straight that no one can be mean after something if they are unconscious,” he said. “I sleep.”
Ripa then thought about it and said, “Maybe that’s what I meant. I didn’t really mean mean. I meant completely disinterested—like sound asleep.”
The audience had let out a unified “aww” when Consuelos said, “If disinterested means sleeping…how about satisfied and just happy?”
The air is now clear, so it will only be right for Ripa to joke a bit about how her husband is now overcompensating, “Now, he’s oddly attentive,” she told the audience. “There’s odd conversations like, ‘Do you want to watch the Real Housewives?’ ‘What do you want to do?’ ‘Would you like pizza?’ ‘Can I get you flowers?'”
