CBS News reports, that an arrest has been made in the slayings of a couple that was found dead in the basement of a home in a suburb of Boston.
On Monday, the Police and SWAT team have arrested 45-year-old Michael Hebb and charged him with two counts of first-degree murder for the slayings of Mark Greenlaw, 37 and Jennifer O’Connor, 39.
“The crime scene is very difficult right now, it’s quite messy,” said Essex District Attorney, Jon Blodgett. “We’re doing our best to sift through this. It takes time. The medical examiner’s office is on the way, and we’re using all those resources to ascertain exactly what happened at this property.”
The gruesome scene was first discovered by police on Saturday night after a woman was seen running from the house and then flagged down a car. Afterwards, the woman had contacted police to inform them of the crime.
It has been reported by sources that the couple was found shot to the death and the bodies were wrapped in rugs and plastic. The sources also reported to CBS News that the gruesome scene also had body parts, but investigators only commented that they were waiting for autopsy results.
District Attorney Blodgett spoke with reporters on Sunday and advised them that X-ray equipment and K-9 units were going to be brought to the scene to obtain more evidence.
The victims were identified as Greenlaw and O’Connor on Monday by the Essex County District Attorney’s Office. Apparently, the two victims were dating at the time of their death and were also living together at the Peabody home where they died.
Reported caution that there is still a second suspect at large.
The arraignment for Hebb is scheduled for Tuesday morning in the Peabody District Court.
